Get Involved
How can my Rotary Club get involved to help support and promote the Forum?
Promotion and Awareness
Clubs can help promote the Forum by sharing the website address rotaryscienceforum.nz with their local schools, through their networks, social and local media. This can increase visibility and encourage applications from students and support from STEM professionals.
Application Process
Clubs appoint a Forum representative who coordinates the Rotary activities during the application process. It is important to connect early with your local School(s) to raise awareness of the Forum. Detailed information of the application process is available on the Forum website and through the Rotary Club Guidelines Booklet supplied to each club.
Sponsorship and Fundraising
Clubs can contribute directly to the application fee of their successful Forum participants. If a club does not have a successful Forum applicant they may consider assisting another club with financial support of its successful candidate. Investigating and fostering connections to potential organisations for sponsorships or grants are welcome by Forum management.
Forum Alumni
A strong and enduring connection formed by clubs with their successful Forum participants both before and after Forum can be beneficial to both the club, the student and the Forum. Clubs can organise the student’s ‘report back’ date to the club as soon as possible after the Forum and continue to be connected through club newsletters and social media. As Rotary Alumni, Forum attendees may be future Rotary Youth Leadership Award candidates, the source of club projects, future speakers or interested in participating in club projects.
Networking Opportunities
Clubs can facilitate connections between Forum participants and local professionals or organisations in the STEM field, enhancing the opportunities available to attendees. Clubs with contacts or involvement in STEM or with connections to suppliers used by the Forum could be of help to the Forum management team. Community project ideas could be identified that may play a role in problem solving projects at future Forums.
Feedback and Support
Club members can provide support during the Forum preparation and during the Forum operation as volunteers on tasks or providers of resources. Providing feedback after the event can help the Forum Management team improve future Forums and better meet the needs of participants.
